  1. Mechanical impurities           
Mechanical impurities refer to the total amount of substances in petroleum or petroleum products that are not melted in oil and specified solvents. Such as silt, dust, iron filings, fibers and some insoluble salts. Mechanical impurities can be removed by precipitation or filtration.
For light oil, mechanical impurities will block the oil path and promote raw rubber or corrosion; for boiler fuel, they will block the nozzle, reduce combustion efficiency and increase fuel consumption; for lubricating oil, they will damage the oil film, increase wear, block the oil filter and promote the formation of carbon deposits.
  1. Precipitation           
Total sediment refers to all the inorganic and organic matters insoluble in solvent in oil products, which is one of the specifications of medium and heavy fuel oil. The precipitate is often some mechanical impurities, or is introduced by the processing, transportation and storage process. The high content of the precipitate is easy to block the filter, nozzle, valve, etc., and will cause or aggravate the wear of the parts.
The determination principle is to put a certain amount of oil sample in a porous filter and continuously drop the hot solvent. All the components dissolved in the solvent are discharged through the filter, and the remaining one is the precipitate insoluble in the solvent.
The main problems of precipitation and impurities in lubricating oil are caused by the following three aspects:
Due to the impurities existing in the equipment system before adding new oil, some impurities are often generated in the new equipment and long-term used equipment. Generally, the equipment flushing oil is flushed until the impurities in the oil reach the specified index.
The storage, transportation and use of lubricating oil are not carried out according to the specified operation requirements, resulting in the entry of impurities in these processes, which has an impact on the quality of oil products.
The deposit is mainly high viscosity diesel engine oil with a large dosage, which will precipitate in varying degrees at low temperature. The deposit is not the impurity produced after long-term use of the equipment, or the external impurity enters the contaminated oil, so it has no impact on the normal use of the oil.
According to the above three causes of precipitation and impurities, different treatment methods are needed:
The treatment method of impurities in the equipment system before adding new oil: different equipment is equipped with different lubricating oil systems, some of which are larger and some of which are smaller. Regardless of the size of the oil system, it is generally composed of oil tank, oil pump, oil cooler, oil filter and other equipment and valves, pipes and instruments. Through the pipes and lubrication points of the machine itself, bearing shells, bearing boxes. The oil holes and grooves of the crankcase are connected to form a relatively complex lubricating oil system.
New equipment: when installing the lubricating oil pipeline system, it is necessary to keep the pipe clean, but this is not enough. It is also necessary to wash the lubricating oil system of the unit through oil circulation. If the oil system is not clean and there is dirt in the pipe, it will affect the normal operation of the unit and even burn the bearing bush. Therefore, the long-term stable operation of the unit will be guaranteed through oil circulation flushing.Long term use of equipment: there are often some impurities in long-term use of equipment. Generally, wash the equipment with flushing oil until the impurities in the oil reach the specified index, and the flushing oil after washing should be discarded or used for other purposes. If these flushing oils are to be used, the corresponding oil analysis and test must be carried out, and they can only be used after the cleanliness reaches a certain standard. In addition, it is required to strengthen filtering and water cutting before and during use.
